ROAR, initiated in 1996, is a network of religious congregations and organizations concerned with the sustainable and regenerative use of land in the Hudson Valley Bioregion. Our mission statement follows:

We believe:
  • Human beings are part of the natural world and share kinship with all creation.
  • Humanity and the natural world form a single sacred community.
  • Ecologically sound care of Earth is a God-given mission.
Impelled by these beliefs and recognizing a time imperative, we come together to:
  • Support one another in using the land under our care with respect for its integrity, revelatory nature and beauty.
  • Collaborate with each other and with regional environmentalists and organizations.
  • Address the interrelated issues of poverty, injustice, and ecological deterioration in this bioregion.
Informed by Evolutionary Consciousness and drawing from our community traditions and experience, we will channel our efforts into education, motivating activities and advocacy, grounding our actions in prayer and a contemplative spirit.
